Matthew is a Chartered Physiotherapist with a keen interest in musculoskeletal and sports injuries along with human biomechanics and strength & conditioning. Prior to completing his MSc in Physiotherapy in the UK, Matthew graduated with a First-Class Honours degree in Sports Rehabilitation & Athletic Therapy from the Institute of Technology, Carlow. Matthew is a certified Strength and Conditioning Coach with the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA), as well being certified in Dry Needling.
Matthew has previously worked in private practice while also gaining experience in a post-surgical ICU ward, a chronic pain clinic and an outpatient’s department in the NHS. Matthew has worked with a number of sports teams including Cork City FC, Newcastle United’s FC U23’s Academy squad and a number of Gaelic Football, Hurling, and Rugby teams around Leinster and County Galway. Matthew has also worked with many individual sport athletes such as professional boxers, track and field athletes along with amateur golfers. Matthew has a particular interest in knee and shoulder rehabilitation and is extremely enthusiastic about exercise-based treatment while designing a personalised plan for each individual to meet their goals.
Matthew is a sport enthusiast himself, with Gaelic Football being is main competitive sport; he plays his club football with The Fighting Cocks GAA club in Carlow and has represented Carlow GAA at under 21 level.
